Frequently Asked Questions

How do I buy a magazine from you?
If you find some magazines that you would like to buy please make a note of the file reference in full as well as the price and email us with these details, and include your address including post code.

If possible please advise which shipping service you'd like (airmail or surface) I will check the postal charges and advise you on the final total to be paid via Paypal. We are based in London in the UK. We also accept payment by US or Euro check or money order, IBAN or if in the UK; via cheque or postal order.

How much is shipping?
The charge for post depends on where you are and how you want it sent. All shipping prices will include insurance and tracking (this costs £3.70 for any international parcel worth up to £500) as if a package is not registered it cannot be traced if it goes missing.

This rarely happens but there is little we can do if the item is not trackable. We recommend that you send magazines via airmail (delivery within 2-4 days in Europe, or 4-6 days to North & South America, Canada, Asia & Australasia). Shipping is also based on weight so we can't give specific charges here.

We don't believe in making any money form postage charges so the costs reflect the postage fees and a 50p charge for packaging (a Mylar archive sleeve as well as a bubblewrap and/or cardboard envelope).

Do you post worldwide?
We have posted items large and small to just about every corner of the globe so yes, no problem at all.

Why are there more than one photograph of the same magazines?
Each magazine is a vintage item. We sometimes have more than one copy so we take a photograph of each one. The reference photograph is of that item only and will show the basic condition of the magazine.

Most of our stock is in excellent-mint condition but if the magazine shows wear and tear on the spine or cover it is usually visible. All vintage magazines are unique.

Can I get a discount if I buy more than one magazine?
We are happy to discuss a discount for purchasing more than one magazine.

Where are you based?
London in the UK. Pick-up can be made by prior arrangement, please email to discuss. We are based in SE5.

Who and what are you?
We are mainly a vintage magazine archive specialising in fashion. We collect magazines from all over the world. We also stock some film magazines as well as fashion related books. Archiving and cataloguing is a huge task for us and this website only represents a small part of the collection.

There are over 10,000 magazines in our collection. At the end of 2009 this site only shows 10% of the collection. We have almost an entire collection of UK Vogue, the entire collection of the original NOVA, hundreds of Italian & French Vogues, and so on.

We have supplied the V&A for both their 'Golden Age of Couture' and the 'Paper Movies' exhibitions in 2007, the National Portrait Gallery of Australia, as well as the current 60's Pop exhibition in the National Portrait Gallery in London (October 2009 - February 2010). We also supply some of the leading fashion houses.

Are you on eBay?
Yes, we have a shop on eBay here.

Can I come and see the archive?
We welcome visitors but unfortunately there is a charge - however fear not as the costs go towards whatever you purchase! Maintaining the archive costs money and any visitors can take up time so we charge £45 for up to two hours. This fee can be put towards the cost of buying some magazines and is non-refundable. So if you want to come and have a look and plan on buying something you will not be disappointed. We currently have 10,000 magazines in stock, mostly fashion covering a time span of over 100 years. If you have a particular interest or item that you are after please get in touch and we can have a look for you. Note we have hundreds of titles that aren't listed on the website (including obscure French fashion titles from the 1920s onwards and up to more recent titles such as Dutch, Numero, Dansk, Muse, AnOther, French Revue des Modes, Dazed & Confused, GQ, Nylon, Marie Claire, Tank, Jalouse, L'Officiel, V, VMan, etc).

What else do you do?
We also sell vintage clothes. Please ask.

What else?
We have a blog! The plan is to write about interesting articles that we have found in the collection. It is amazing to find rare and hidden items that no-one knows about. We recently enjoyed an issue of Esquire that contains Truman Capote's original short story 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'. Nova is never boring either with its provocative articles on women's issues from the 70's. We decided to make a blog because 95% of this content that we have within our stock is unknown. No one catalogues it or knows about it.

Why a blog?
Mainly because there is no record of the photographs and content that we have collected. Yes some of the original Vogue articles are in a drawer somewhere in Hanover Square London, but outside of the commissioning office no-one knows what it is. You can subscribe to the blog with RSS and get a message whenever we update it here.

Also because we enjoy reading magazines and when we get senile we want
to have some memories to read!
